A year ago, I suffered a major fall on black ice. I was, literally, snapped in two as I slipped on black ice and landed on my side. My pelvis and pubic bone had a major break as well as my hip socket ring. The hospital mis-diagnosed the injury, said it was a torn muscle, and six weeks later I wasn’t sure if I could walk again. Time passed, it did not heal correctly, but, I could walk. I had to prove to myself that I could still hike and carry my 35 pounds of camera equipment. I set off on a solo 10-day journey and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. The trip was spectacular, I met wonderful people along the way, and, at my own pace, accomplished my goals. The cloud gods cooperated every day and the landscape was more than beautiful.
